CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Former IceRay, and now forward for the Dallas Stars Ryan Garbutt, will return to Corpus Christi this Saturday night and Sunday afternoon for Best-Of-The-Best weekend presented by The Caller Times. Also returning for the weekend are Jody Praznik and Mike Tomlinson.
Taking place of an alumni game, past members of the IceRays will start to be honored throughout the season as a part of the 15th year anniversary of hockey.
Also taking place this upcoming weekend is the Jazz Festival and Making Strides Walk, along with the Best-of-the-Best Showcase. Fans are encouraged to get to the arena early to avoid the long lines prior to the puck drops. Saturday night, the game kicks off at 7:05PM while Sunday is a 3:05PM puck drop.
In the 2009-2010 season with the IceRays, Garbutt scored 22 goals and added 28 assists. Praznik played from 1998 until 2001 while the IceRays were in the WPHL and scored 7 goals with 68 assists. As for Tomlinson, he played from 1998 until 2000 and scored 24 goals and 40 assists.
Garbutt cracked the Stars lineup this past season scoring two goals and adding one assist in 20 games. After his time with the IceRays, Garbutt landed in Gwinnett (ECHL), Chicago (AHL), and Texas (AHL), before the callup.
The IceRays return home this weekend as they take on the Amarillo Bulls before hitting the road to Alaska. Puck drops at 7:05PM, on Saturday night, and 3:05PM on Sunday afternoon.
