ICERAYS ACQUIRE BRADY CRABTREE FROM AMARILLO

Feb 3, 2016

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) have acquired forward Brady Crabtree from the Amarillo Bulls in exchange for a 2016 2nd Round Pick. The deal is the second involving the IceRays this week prior to Saturday’s NAHL trade deadline.

“With the injuries and suspensions we’ve incurred, we’re definitely in need of a forward,” said IceRays head coach John Becanic. “He fills two voids for us: he’s a right-shot forward, which we don’t have many of, and he can also play as a center. The biggest bonus is that he gives us more bite and maturity up front. He plays an abrasive games, and he’s challenging to play against.”

Crabtree, 20, has appeared in 33 games with the Bulls this season, recording two goals and six assists for eight points with 48 penalty minutes and a -5 rating while being named alternate captain prior to the 2015-16 season. The St. Louis, Mizz., native owns four goals and one assist for five points against the IceRays over the last two seasons through 14 games. In two years with Amarillo, the 6-foot, 195-pound forward has earned 15 goals and 12 assists for 27 points with 140 penalty minutes and a -16 rating through 82 games. He was drafted 23rd overall (1st Round) by Amarillo in the 2014 NAHL Entry Draft.

The IceRays are hopeful to have Crabtree for this weekend’s road trip against the Lone Star Brahmas in North Richland Hills, Texas.

The IceRays return to the American Bank Center on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7:11 p.m. to begin a three-game set against the Lone Star Brahmas.
