Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays, a proud member of the North American Hockey League, have announced addition of two more to its staff for the 2023-24 season.
Joining the IceRays are Tanya Perez and Mark Schwabe.
Perez is VP of Business Operations and Schwabe Corporate Partnerships Manager.
Born and raised in the vibrant city of Corpus Christi, Perez developed a strong passion for sports and a determination to excel in her pursuits.
During her college years at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi (TAMUCC), she had the incredible opportunity to intern with the Corpus Christi IceRays. This invaluable experience allowed her to immerse herself in the world of professional sports and gain first-hand knowledge of the inner workings of a successful team.
It was during this time that her love for the sports industry truly blossomed.
Upon graduating from TAMUCC, Perez embarked on an exciting journey with the prestigious San Antonio Spurs.
For a remarkable decade, she had the privilege of working closely with this esteemed organization.
During her tenure with the Spurs, she was fortunate enough to contribute to various facets of the team’s operations, honing her skills and expanding her knowledge within the sports industry. The fast-paced environment, the unwavering dedication of the team, and the camaraderie she experienced were truly inspiring and pushed me to grow both personally and professionally.
“I am beyond excited to be back where it all started,” Perez said. “I am looking forward to meeting all the IceRays fans and for all the fun things we have planned for this season.”
IceRays President Cassidy Lange is happy to have Tanya back with the franchise.
“I am excited to have Tanya back onboard with us,” Lange said. “Her experience and leadership will not only make this organization better, but it will also make me better as a person. I am excited to work with her as she has a wealth of experience and knowledge after being with Spurs Sports and Entertainment for over a decade. Welcome back home where it all started, Tanya.”
Schwabe has spent 40 years in sales, management, promotions, the music industry and in radio.
In 1998, Schwabe met with the original team of IceRays and helped put together a promotion to name the team through radio and local Newspaper.
“I’m excited about returning to work for the IceRays and working with the staff and team to continue bringing entertainment and excitement to the fans,” Schwabe said.
He spent nine-plus years working in corporate Sales, handling marketing, promotions and game operations for the IceRays.
“I am excited to have Mark return to the IceRays after working with the franchise from 1999-2006,” Lange said. “He has strong ties in the community and has already made an impact on our organization. He will help us raise awareness of our brand in the corporate world and has already made a great impact with the organization. I really look forward to working with Mark.”
Schwabe attended many seminars and classes on marketing, sports management, sales and promotions. He was heavily involved with many non-profit organizations throughout the years by sitting on many Boards of Directors for different organizations.
He brings strong family values and cares for helping with many ministries fighting current issues.
