CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays have acquired former United States Hockey League (USHL) defenseman Pierre Crinon and brought up affiliate forward Regan Cavanagh from the Hampton Roads Whalers of the USPHL Elite. In a corresponding roster move, the IceRays have also released defenseman Markus Kojo.

According to IceRays Head Coach John Becanic, Crinon is an “upgrade” on the back end based on their current situation but does not expect him to play this weekend. Cavanagh, however, will skate with the team and play this weekend to fill the injury void at forward.

Crinon, 19, played one game this season with the Sioux City Musketeers (USHL) and five games with the Musketeers in the Junior Club World Cup in Ufa, Russia, recording six penalty minutes and a -3 plus/minus. The 6-foot-4, 210-pound native of Reims, France is in his first season of hockey in the United States. He will wear number 25.

Crinon played 20 games over the last three seasons in the World Junior Championships for France, recording eight assists with 50 penalty minutes and a -9 plus/minus.

Cavanagh, 17, was drafted by the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) in the 18th Round of Phase II in the 2014 USHL Draft. In 10 games for Hampton Roads this season, he has recorded three goals and six assists for nine points. He also played 38 games last season with Hampton Roads, recording seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points with ten penalty minutes. In addition, he played eight playoff games, recording eight assists and two penalty minutes. He will wear number eight.
