CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays (0-0-0) begin their quest for the Robertson Cup against familiar foe the Shreveport Mudbugs (0-0-0) this Saturday, Sept 14. The Mudbugs will host the season opener at the George’s Pond Hirsch Coliseum with puck drop scheduled at 7:11 PM CT.

LAST TIME OUT
Last season, the IceRays finished eighth in the South Division with 44 points comprised of a 19-35-6 record. The 8th placed finish kept Corpus Christi out of the Robertson Cup playoffs for the third consecutive season but was an eight-win improvement from the previous year.
Shreveport went on to a second-place finish in the division with 84 points and a 41-17-2 record to clinch a playoff berth for the eighth consecutive season. The Mudbugs have never missed the postseason since joining the NAHL in 2016-17. They were knocked out in the Division Final by the eventual Robertson Cup Champions the Lone Star Brahmas.
NEW YEAR SAME FACES
The IceRays and Mudbugs faced off a season high 12 times last season, Shreveport held an 8-4 advantage in those contests. This season will be no different, Saturday’s season opener kicks off a 12 game season series between the division rivals stretching all the way to the final weekend of the regular season in April. It will also mark the 84th all time meeting between the two franchises since Shreveport joined the NAHL in 2016-17.
