Oklahoma City, OK (March 10th, 2023) – The Corpus Christi IceRays’ next game is tonight, Friday, March 10th, 2023 at Blazers Ice Centre. Puck drops at 7:15 PM CDT against the Oklahoma Warriors.
Game Preview
The IceRays arrived in Oklahoma City earlier this week and will wrap up their season series with the Warriors this weekend. As is the case for most of the teams in the South Division, the IceRays have not defeated the Warriors yet this season. They enter tonight’s contest with a record of 10-32-6 for 26 points.
These two teams squared off in back-to-back weekends at the end of January and beginning of February, with the Warriors taking all four games and outscoring the IceRays by a 29-6 margin. The most recent series at the American Bank Center was a feisty one, with the two teams combining for 135 penalty minutes over both games. Nate Murray recorded two points in his IceRays debut that night, assisting on goals from both Wolfgang Govedaris and Dylan Contreras.
After setting a franchise record with 15 straight wins, the Warriors are now 2-3 in their last five games. They still lead the league in virtually every category, however, coming into tonight with a 37-9-0-1 record and 75 points, the only team to have surpassed the 70-point mark thus far.
Players to Watch
IceRays veteran forward Stepan Kuznetsov sat out last Saturday against the Mudbugs, but the Russian winger is bound to come back strong. He had three points in four games against the Warriors last season, and has a goal and an assist against them this year. Kuznetsov recently played his 75th career NAHL game and is one shy of 50 career points. Look for #16 to get on the score sheet this weekend.
Mikko Liukkonen scored four goals against the IceRays back on January 27th in what was just his fifth career NAHL game. He was injured in the third period in that game and did not play again until February 24th. The Finnish native has two goals in five games since coming back from injury. Look for Liukkonen to be a factor for the Warriors this weekend.
