IceRays At Home To Host Lone Star Friday And Saturday Night at ABC

Corpus Christi, Texas – Fresh off a four-game, 14-day road trip which produced five out of a possible eight points, the Corpus Christi IceRays open a stretch of four straight games at home with a two-game series against the Lone Star Brahmas Friday and Saturday night at the American Bank Center.

The IceRays are coming off of perhaps their best overall game of the season, a 3-1 victory at the New Mexico Ice Wolves October 21 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

It was the type of performance IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier had been waiting for.

Now, it’s up to the team to provide many encore performances.

“I expect it to be a physical and intense weekend,” Cloutier said. “If we play for 60, we should get the results that we want.”

Corpus Christi enters the weekend 5-7-1, 1SOL for 12 points and tied for seventh place in the NAHL South Division with the Colorado Grit and Odessa Jackalopes.

Pierson Sobush, who scored empty net goal in the 3-1 win at New Mexico October 21, leads the IceRays with 14 points (six goals, eight assists).

Sobush has scored two goals and collected four assists in his last five games. He has four goals and four assists in his last seven games, five goals and five assists in 10 games, and six goals and seven assists in 11 games.

Anthony Cafarelli and Mathieu Bourgault each have posted 13 points. Cafarelli has seven goals and six assists and Bourgault two goals and 11 assists.

Lone Star comes into the series tied for first with the El Paso Rhinos at 10-5-0, 1SOL for 21 points.

Brock James leads the Brahmas with 14 points (five goals, nine assists). Charlie Masek leads the way with seven goals.

“It’s a big weekend for us, especially playing the first-place team,” Cloutier said. “It will be a big test for us to see where we are at.”

As part of the weekend, the IceRays are excited to also host Pink in the Rink on Saturday.
