GREELEY, CO – After another week off for the Corpus Christi IceRays (10-3-1), the team hits the road for their first series of November against the Colorado Grit (6-6-4) in Greeley, Colorado. This weekend kicks off a four game road trip for the IceRays which ends in Oklahoma next week against the Warriors before returning to the American Bank Center.
BROADCAST / GAME INFORMATION
The Grit are hosting Military Appreciation Weekend at the Greeley Ice Haus this Friday and Saturday, tickets for both games can be purchased HERE. Puck drop on Friday night is scheduled for 8:05 CT while Saturday is a few hours earlier at 6:05 CT to kick off the series finale.
Fans can catch the games on NATV or listen on Retro Radio Corpus Christi by downloading the Retro Radio Corpus Christi app on your smartphone and hear the “Voice of the IceRays” Joey Erickson all weekend long. The pregame show on NATV and Retro Radio CC will begin 30 minutes prior to puck drop.
LAST TIME THEY MET
The IceRays and Grit squared off for the first time this season back in October at the American Bank Center which saw both teams come away with 3-1 victories over the weekend. It featured a heavy dose of special teams and excellent goaltending from Nikita Volsky for Corpus Christi and Peter Sterling for Colorado in their respective wins. IceRays Defenseman Raymond Perrault scored in both games including the game winner on Friday night. Corpus Christi outshot Colorado in both contests. This weekend will wrap up a four game season series with the Grit.
DOWN SOUTH
Corpus Christi checks in at 2nd place in the South Division after being idle last week, the IceRays have a chance to tie Lone Star in 1st place by sweeping the Grit this weekend with the Brahmas being off. Amarillo and Shreveport follow close behind in 3rd and 4th, the Mudbugs were off to a slow start but since returning from the NAHL Showcase they have won seven of their last eight. El Paso and Colorado are tied with 16 points to round out the top six. Odessa along with New Mexico and Oklahoma are just separated by one point as a third of the season is almost complete.
PLAYER TO WATCH
IceRays captain Pierson Sobush has been held off the scoresheet for three straight games but has been an integral part of the offense this season at five on five and on the power play. Sobush has 10 points in 14 games played this season, last season against the Grit Sobush collected five goals and three assists in four games including a Hat Trick at the American Bank Center on March 3. On the other side, it’s leading scorer Lucca Ori who has 13 points in 16 games so far and was the spearhead of their victory last month in Corpus Christi when he scored a shorthanded goal and game winner to seal the victory for Colorado.
