Game Action

The 9 game losing streak for the Corpus Christi Icerays is history. Stepan Kuznetsov broke up a 2-2 tie in the 3rd period with his 6th goal of the year and that was the difference in a hard fought 3-2 victory over the visiting Amarillo Wranglers at the American Bank Center in downtown Corpus Christi. It is  their first win since September 30th  to up their record to 3-12-2…

The loss for Amarillo is their 6th of the year dropping their record to 8-6-1.

Leonhard Korus opened the scoring at the 17:21 mark of the first period. It was his second of the year and was a powerplay goal with Jack McDonald in the penalty box. Jacob Halliday tied the score at the 13:03 mark for a 1-1 tied after one period.

Michael Casey broke the tie with his 5th goal of the year in the second period for Corpus Christi but Amarillo tied the game with a goal that slipped past IceRay goaltender Thomas Kiesewetter on a clearing shot from the Wrangler blueline. CJ Zezima was credited with the goal.

The 3rd period was a little crazy as the Wranglers had a potential game tying goal taken off the board due to a high stick in front of the net.

The 3 stars were the 3 goal scorers for Corpus Christi. Korus, Casey and Kuznetsov got the honors. A Veterans Day crowd of 3407 witnessed the game.

These same two teams face off again Saturday night at 7:05 in downtown Corpus Christi.
