ICERAYS BRING IN HIGHLY RECRUITED PROSPECTS

Jan 23, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays have added Trevor Cope and Brandon Ngai, two highly sought after prospects for this upcoming weekend.

Cope, from Michigan, is a draft pick of the IceRays this past year and plays for the Victory Honda Midget Major Team.  In 31 games played, Cope has 16 goals and 21 assists.

“Trevor is a highly recruited forwarded who possesses many offensive abilities at young age,” head coach Justin Quenneville said.  “We drafted him this past summer in the hopes that he would play for us this season, but he opted to stay back one more year with Victory Honda.  We look forward to getting him on the ice this weekend and potentially signing him for next season.”

Ngai is unable to play this weekend due to injury, however he will be practicing with the IceRays.  In just 26 games with the LA Selects Hockey Club, Ngai has 9 goals and 10 assists.

“We are excited that Brandon chose to sign with us for next season and look forward to his visit here this week.  It's unfortunate that will be unable to play this weekend due to a recent injury, but this will also allow him to get in the life on an everyday junior player in preparation for next year,” Quenneville said.

The IceRays home this Thursday and Friday night against the Wichita Falls Wildcats.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
