Corpus Christi, TX (Dec. 29, 2022) – The Corpus Christi IceRays were outgunned at the American Bank Center on Thursday, December 29th against the Shreveport Mudbugs.
Game Action
The Shreveport Mudbugs came out of the gate flying in the first game back from the holiday break, resulting in a 7-3 victory over the IceRays tonight in downtown Corpus Christi.
Eric Vitale scored his 4th of the year just 22 seconds into the game, quickly silencing what was a solid crowd of 2259 fans tonight at the American Bank Center.
Jake Mack jammed home a rebound for his 6th of the year less than 7 minutes later.
Wolfgang Govedaris brought the Corpus Christi faithful back to life as he snapped one by Simon Bucheler later in the first for his first of the year, making it a 2-1 game.
Garrett Steele and Eric Vitale would each tally in the 2nd, putting the Mudbugs up 4-1 heading into the 3rd.
Jack Wandmacher ripped one home just 22 seconds into the 3rd, infusing some energy back into the building. However, two quick strikes from Shreveport’s Matthew Danziger and Kason Muscutt within a 47-second span put the Mudbugs up 6-2 and saw Lukas Malant replace Thomas Kiesewetter in net for the IceRays.
Blake Lewis and Logan Heroux would each add one more tally for the IceRays and Mudbugs, respectively, resulting in a 7-3 final in favor of Shreveport.
Each team went 0 for 3 on the Power Play. The Mudbugs outshot the IceRays 43-32 in route to the victory.
