Recorded 36 Points in 41 Games Before Injury-Shortened Season
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi IceRays are proud to announce that forward Johnny Maruna has committed to continue his academic and athletic career at Norwich University, an NCAA Division III program competing within the Little East Conference.
Maruna enjoyed a standout 2025–26 season with the IceRays, leading the team in scoring with 14 goals and 36 points in just 41 games before his year was cut short due to injury. Prior to his absence, he was a driving force offensively and a consistent presence at the top of the lineup.
“Johnny had a tremendous impact for us this season,” said IceRays Head Coach Ryan Gil. “He was producing at a high level every night and leading our offense before his injury. We’re proud of the way he competed and developed, and we’re excited to see him continue his career at Norwich.”
Known for his scoring touch, hockey IQ, and ability to create opportunities, Maruna emerged as one of the IceRays most dangerous offensive players this season. He currently leads the IceRays with eight power play goals this year. His commitment to Norwich University reflects both his on-ice success and his continued growth as a student-athlete.
“I’m excited to join Norwich Univeristy for the storied military and academic tradition along with a high-level hockey program,” said Maruna. Thank you to everyone that helped me along the way.”
The IceRays organization congratulates Johnny on this achievement and looks forward to following his continued success at the collegiate level.
