Corpus Christi, TX (Jan. 21, 2023) – The Corpus Christi IceRays’ next game is tonight, Saturday, January 21st, 2023 at the American Bank Center. Puck drops at 7:05 PM CDT against the Lone Star Brahmas.
Recap of Last Game
The IceRays stunned the first place Brahmas last night with a 6-4 win at the American Bank Center. The IceRays trailed the Brahmas 3-1 heading into the third period and overcame two separate two-goal deficits in route to the victory, scoring five goals in the third.
Blake Lewis scored the game winner on a beautiful set up from Hans Ulvebne with just 1:26 left in regulation. Anthony Cafarelli had the first two goals and his new linemate, Nils Forselius, recorded three assists in his debut with the IceRays.
Dylan Contreras and Logan Neilson played a big role in the third period comeback, setting each other up on the third and fourth goals for the IceRays. Leo Korus would add an empty net goal. The IceRays had two power play goals and Lukas Malant made 29 stops in the win.
Players to Watch
It would be hard not to highlight the newly appointed Captain, Anthony Cafarelli, looking ahead to tonight’s contest. The left winger was named Captain after the trade of former Captain, Michael Casey, earlier this week. Cafarelli had two goals and an assist against the Brahmas last night, including a power play goal.
For the Brahmas, it would be difficult to ignore their Captain as well. Mason Mara had the first two goals for the Brahmas last night which included a beautiful shorthanded goal early in the first to open the scoring. The centerman is tied for the team lead in both goals and points with 11 and 21, respectively.
