STANDINGS UPDATE

After a New Year’s Eve win for the Lone Star Brahmas, the Brahmas have jumped back into first place in the South Division just one point ahead of the IceRays. El Paso is in a tie for 3rd place with the Shreveport Mudbugs who recently took two of three games against Corpus Christi and now have 37 points. The remaining two playoff spots go to the Odessa Jackalopes and Colorado Grit. Amarillo, New Mexico, and Oklahoma round out the nine team division as we kick off 2025! This season has been quite the turn around for Corpus Christi who finished 8th last season and have already won two more games in 2024 than they did throughout the 2023-24 season.

NEW TANDEM IN TOWN

With the departure of Nikita Volsky after Christmas break the IceRays added Goalie Waylon Esche from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in the BCHL to join Corpus Christi for the second half. Based off his debut last weekend, the IceRays should be just fine in between the pipes with Esche and Vladislav Bryzgalov moving forward. Bryzgalov started in two of the three games against the Mudbugs making a combined 65 saves on 70 shots and picked up an overtime win on Friday night. Esche made a spectacular first impression allowing just one goal on 25 shots, unfortunately the IceRays were unable to muster up any offense in the loss leading to their second straight loss.
