ICERAYS HUNT DOWN JACKALOPES IN THIRD, WIN 5-2

ODESSA, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays picked up the third sweep of the year over the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday night scoring five unanswered goals in the third period completing the 5-2 comeback win inside the Ector County Coliseum.

After no scoring in the first period, Odessa broke the ice while on a five-on-three power-play as the team leader in scoring Lawrence Cornellier retrieved his own rebound and wristed it past goaltender Ben Myers 12:22 into the middle frame.

The Jacks’ added another power-play goal less than a minute later on a shot from the point by John Feemster that found a way through the screen and into the net at 13:05 to put Odessa up 2-0.

In the third period however, Corpus Christi turned the momentum.  Perry D’Arrisso scored on the rebound assisted by Emil Romig and Rudy Sulmonte just 1:23 into the final period to split the lead in half, 2-1.

Rudy Sulmonte tied the game off of a shot from the point by Beau Walker at 7:56 while on the man advantage.  Perry D’Arrisso recorded the other assist on Sulmonte’s first of the night.

The IceRays then took the lead 3-2 and never looked back when John Roisum’s shot from the blue-line was deflected by Sulmonte for his second goal of the period at 10:23 of the third.

Emil Romig made it a two goal lead shortly after with 6:44 left in the game on the power-play assisted by Andrew Paras and Perry D’Arrisso at 13:16 of the third period.

Corpus Christi finalized the win when Perry D’Arrisso dove and tapped in an empty net goal with only 1:31 left in the game making it 5-2 Rays’ on the unassisted tally.

Ben Myers let in only two goals on 29 shots in the win.
