Amarillo, TX (March 25th, 2023) – The Corpus Christi IceRays’ next game is tonight, Saturday, March 25th, 2023 at Budweiser Bull Pen. Puck drops at 7:15 PM CDT against the Amarillo Wranglers.
Game Preview
The IceRays underwent a blemish late in the third period last night after what was a tight game for the majority of regulation. After Amarillo carried the opening 20 minutes of play, Nils Forselius got the IceRays on the board early in the second period to tie the game at one, but that was all the IceRays would get past Wranglers netminder Connor McDonough despite registering 17 shots in the second frame.
Amarillo got contributions from seven different players in route to the 7-1 victory and now sits six points outside a playoff spot. They skate into tonight’s game at 5th in the South with a record of 27-23-2-1 for 57 points.
The IceRays had their two-game point streak snapped in the loss and will look to get back in the win column tonight. They check in at 8th in the South with a record of 11-35-6-1 for 29 points.
Players to Watch
IceRays forward Logan Neilson returned to the lineup last night after missing the previous two games against Odessa. The UK-native was riding a two-game point streak prior to last weekend and had a point against the Wranglers on the IceRays last trip to Amarillo in February. Look for Neilson to get back on the score sheet as the IceRays look to even up the series tonight.
Amarillo power forward Chase Davis continues to tear it up offensively for the Wranglers. He is now riding a three-game point streak and has 14 points in his last 10 games. The Alpharetta, GA native had the game winning goal late in the second period last night and added a helper in the third. Look for Davis to continue his strong play tonight as Amarillo looks to close the gap in the standings.
