ICERAYS LOSE HARD FOUGHT GAME 3-2 IN AMARILLO

Mar 15, 2012

AMARILLO, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays held on all game, tying the contest in the second period, and again in the third, however, Amarillo scored with 4.4 seconds left in the game to take a 3-2 victory on Friday night inside the Amarillo Civic Center.

It took just 13 seconds for Amarillo to take the lead after being swept by the Texas Tornado last weekend.  Greg Gibson took a pass from John Gustafsson right off a face-off and beat Anthony Stolarz low past the right leg pad for 1-0 lead.

The IceRays did a great job holding the Bulls to just a one goal lead after 20 minutes of play.  In the second period, Corpus Christi tied the game on a great passing play.  Zach Tatrn found Beau Walker on the right wing wall, who then with a one-touch pass found Chris Taff waiting all alone to beat Mike Taffe to tie the game at one a piece just 1:31 into the period.

With the teams tied going into the third, the Bulls took the lead as Gibson notched his second goal of the night just 3:45 into the final period of action.

The IceRays fought back once again and tied the game as Frank Misuraca took a shot from the left point, and Jonathan Grebosky scooped up the rebound to tie the game 2-2 with 10:22 left in the game.

Just as overtime seemed inevitable, the Bulls scored with 4.4 seconds left in the game off the stick of Tyler Deresky on a delayed penalty.

Anthony Stolarz was brilliant in net, stopping 48 of 51 shots.

The IceRays take on Amarillo tomorrow night before returning home next weekend.  Puck drops at 7:00PM, coverage begins at 6:45PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
