Game Preview
The IceRays get set to host the Mudbugs for a two-game set which starts tonight on Faith & Family Night at the American Bank Center. The IceRays are winless in four games against the Mudbugs this year and will look to pick up their seventh win on home ice this season. They enter the contest with an overall record of 10-30-6 for 26 points.
The IceRays have not seen the Mudbugs since December 30th, which capped off back-to-back weekends between the two clubs. In the most recent series, the Mudbugs emerged victorious by final scores of 5-1 and 7-3 at the American Bank Center. Dylan Contreras had a goal and an assist over those two games for the IceRays.
Shreveport is coming off a split against the Brahmas last weekend in which both games required extra time. The Mudbugs are 7-1-0-2 in their last 10 games and sit in fourth place in the South.
Players to Watch
IceRays defenseman Connor Brust lit the lamp twice last weekend against Amarillo and now leads the Corpus Christi blue line with five goals on the year. With 13 points and 51 shots on goal, Brust’s offensive ability speaks for itself. At 6’1” and 195 pounds, the East Bethel, MN native is also not afraid to throw his weight around and step in the way of oncoming shots from the opposition. Keep an eye on #15 on his 45th game as an IceRay tonight.
On the Shreveport blue line stands defenseman Logan Heroux. The Middletown, NJ native has three points in four games against the IceRays this season and has recorded seven points in his previous seven games. Heroux is second on the team with 30 points this season and 12th among all NAHL defenseman. Look for #3 to be a factor for the Mudbugs tonight.
