ICERAYS RECOGNIZE EDUCATORS & HOCKEY IN WEEKEND TILT

Feb 17, 2015

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays return home play a two-game set against the rival Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees this Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. from the American Bank Center. The weekend is the first of five-straight meetings against the Killer Bees to close out the season series.

The IceRays are acknowledging the work of the Corpus Christi area educators by celebrating Teacher Appreciation Weekend throughout both games with local educators joining the crowd on Saturday evening. Tickets were donated to area schools so that they and their families can enjoy the game free of charge. Other educators that may not have received these vouchers may bring their school identifications to gain access to Saturday’s game.

USA Hockey is also recognizing this upcoming weekend as Hockey Weekend Across America, presented by CCM. Much The weekend promotes the celebration of the sport of hockey as well as encourages its growth and education. The theme also celebrates the 35th Anniversary of the “Miracle On Ice,” in which the United States Men’s Ice Hockey Team defeated the former Soviet Union in the semifinals of the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, N.Y. The IceRays will keep the theme of the weekend by inviting fans to wear their favorite hockey jersey on Friday night and share their stories on social media and to others, educate and try the sport of hockey on Saturday, and celebrate their local hockey heroes on Sunday.

Friday night is Frosty Friday, and fans can purchase select beers and sodas for only $1. Saturday is also a Corpus Christi Caller-Times Family 4-Pack Night, during which fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas for just $46. Fans can purchase tickets online at www.Ticketmaster.com or in person at either any Ticketmaster location or the American Bank Center Box Office.
