El Paso, TX (Feb 10, 2023) – The Corpus Christi IceRays’ next game is tonight, Friday, February 10th, 2023 at El Paso County Events Center. Puck drops at 8:00 PM CDT against the El Paso Rhinos.
Game Preview
The IceRays sit just two points behind the Rhinos in the standings and will look to secure their second win against them this season. The IceRays have not seen the Rhinos since December 2nd and both teams have made numerous changes to the roster over the past two months.
The IceRays are coming off a tough stretch in which they were swept by the NAHL-leading Oklahoma Warriors in consecutive weekends. Things could be worse. The Rhinos come into the weekend series riding an 8-game skid, having scored two goals or less in 13 of their last 14 outings.
For the IceRays, expect to see Lukas Malant back in between the pipes and for defenseman Leo Korus to bring the sting against his former squad.
Players to Watch
Newly acquired IceRays winger Nate Murray posted two assists in his debut with the team last Saturday against Oklahoma. The Fowlerville, MI native has already matched his point total through nine games with his former team, the Janesville Jets. Murray has fit in seamlessly playing alongside Dylan Contreras. Look for him to be a factor once again tonight.
Forward David Tolan, a new addition for the Rhinos, has two assists in four games with the club since coming down from the Anchorage Wolverines of the Midwest division. The LaVerne, CA native is tied for the team lead in goals this year with nine, but has not found the back of the net since December 9th. Look for Tolan to get off the schneid this weekend for El Paso.
