CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays are set to participate in the 2012 North American Hockey League Draft today beginning at 1:00PM Central Standard Time.
The results of the Draft will be available on Twitter by following @NAHLHockey or at http://www.nahldraft.com/. The complete results of the NAHL Draft by round and selection will be seen on http://www.nahl.com/following the Draft. Fans can also listen to a complimentary live broadcast of the draft at www.fasthockey.com.
Amateur players less than 21 years of age on December 31, 2012 who are not listed on an NAHL team roster or are listed on an NAHL team roster but played less than 10 NAHL regular season and/or playoff games during the 2011-12 season and did not accept a tender from an NAHL team prior to the 2012 NAHL Entry Draft are eligible for selection in the draft.
“This is an exciting day,” said head coach Justin Quenneville. “Hopefully it goes as planned with the guys we want to pick that we have on our radar.”
Corpus Christi will have three picks in the first two rounds of the Draft today after protecting 27 players. The IceRays will have their first pick 7th overall in the first round. The second pick will also come in the first round, 20 overall. That draft pick was acquired in the trade earlier in the season with the Texas Tornado. The final pick will be 31st overall in round two.
