ICERAYS SHUTOUT 2-0

Sep 15, 2011

BLAINE, MN – For the second game in a row the Corpus Christi IceRays failed to record a goal in a 2-0 shutout loss, this time at the hands of the Wenatchee Wild.

The IceRays fell behind 47 seconds into the game when Brendan Vetter took a wrister from the point.  The puck was deflected by Matt Cope past goaltender Kale Robertson and into the net giving the Wild a 1-0 lead.  It was Cope’s first goal of the year.

Corpus Christi thought they had tied the game at one apiece however; the goal was called back due to a hand pass.   There was no scoring in the second period.

Jerad Tafoya sealed the deal for the Wild at the 11:16 mark after receiving a pass in the low slot, firing it into the net for his second goal of the season.  The lone assist was credited to Trace Redmond.

Kale Robertson stopped 15 of 17 shots.  Corpus Christi outshot Wenatchee 32-17.

The IceRays are in action tomorrow at 2:45PM as they take on the Minot Minotauros in the final game of the 2011 NAHL Showcase.  The IceRays return to home ice next Friday as they host the Odessa Jackalopes at 7:05PM.
