ICERAYS SWEEP SERIES WITH 2-1 WIN

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The Corpus Christi IceRays, behind 39 saves from Anthony Stolarz, completed the series sweep of the Texas Tornado with a 2-1 victory inside the American Bank Center. 

Corpus Christi started the scoring just 1:26 into the first period as Eric Purcell brought the puck in over the blue line, firing it through the screen of the defender past Reid Mimmack to give the IceRays a 1-0 lead after the first period.

In the second period, Corpus Christi took a two goal lead as Brandon Smith put on a nice move around the defender, backhanding the puck past Reid Mimmack 3:31 into period two giving the IceRays a 2-0 lead.

A massive line brawl broke out in the second period resulting in a total of 62 penalty minutes.

Texas came back within a goal in the third period on a goal from Jack Prince, 12:12 into the third period on the power-play pulling the Tornado within a goal, 2-1.

The IceRays held on for the 2-1 win, their fifth victory in a row. 

The IceRays are in action on November 2nd as they travel to Wichita Falls to battle the WIldcats at 7:05PM.
