IceRays take a 2-1 tough loss in overtime in two home game series versus the Rhinos

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays took another tough loss at the American Bank Center on Saturday, September 24th against the El Paso Rhinos resulting in a score of 2-1 in overtime.

Game Action

After a scoreless 1st period, the El Paso Rhinos #20 Mike Marquez opened the scoring at the 2:27 mark of the second period, assisted by #28 Zev Podolski and #21 Luke Morris for a 1-0 El Paso lead.

Answering to that call at the 6:44 mark on the clock was Corpus Christi IceRays team captain #19 Michael Casey as he knotted the score with a power play goal assisted by #20 Oliver Stumpel and #4 Dominic Foglia.

That’s the way it stayed through the 3rd period to the end of regulation.

Overtime Action

In overtime a 2 on 1 break enabled #29 Bo Cosman to light the lamp at the 3:39 mark, to give the visiting Rhino a hard fought 2-1 win. He was assisted on the goal by #6 Jacob Zwirecki and #16 Tristan Kimmen.

Taking the “W” was El Paso raising their record for the year to 5-1 while CC Icerays drop to 1-5.

El Paso’s Nolan Suggs stopped 29 of 30 shots while Corpus Christi IceRays goalie #35 Thomas Kieswetter handled 24 of 26 shots on goal tonight, including overtime.
