IceRays To Face Off Against El Paso On The Road Friday And Saturday

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays are back on the road to take on the El Paso Rhinos Friday and Saturday night at the El Paso County Events Center in El Paso.

The IceRays enter the weekend after having lost a pair at home to the New Mexico Ice Wolves, 4-3 in a shootout January 12, and 5-2 January 13.

Corpus Christi has won three of its last six contests (3-2-0, 1SOL).

The IceRays are currently 12-20-1 for 28 points, in eighth place in the NAHL South Division, six points behind the Odessa Jackalopes for seventh, and nine points behind the Oklahoma Warriors and New Mexico Ice Wolves for fifth.

El Paso is currently tied with the Shreveport Mudbugs for third place with a record of 23-9-1, 1SOL.

“We can’t take any time off,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “We need to go into El Paso and take it a shift at a time and get something out of the weekend.”

The IceRays got a split in a pair of games to open the IceRays home schedule with El Paso winning on September 22, and Corpus Christi coming back to nab a 4-3 win the next night, September 23.

Stepan Kuznetsov scored a pair of goals in the victory, while Cody Kempf and Tyler Samodral added the other two. Mason Label, Frank Tafelski and Ryan Gingher each had goals for El Paso.

Pierson Sobush and Mathieu Bourgault had the goals in the home opener for the IceRays. Tory Lund, Camden Bajzer and Medric Bolduc had the El Paso Goals.

Sobush continues to lead the IceRays in points with 29 (12G, 17A). Anthony Cafarelli has 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points. Bourgault has six goals and 17 assists for 23 points. Billy Biedermann is fourth with 21 points (6G, 17A).

Kuznetsov follows with 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points.

Tafelski is tops on the Rhinos scoring list with 13 goals and 14 assists for 27 points. Bolduc is second with 25 points (8G, 17A). Lund has nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points and Bajzer has notched eight goals and 15 assists for 23 points.
