The IceRays will be supporting The Purple Door, formerly known as the Women’s
Shelter of South Texas, in recognition of their 40th anniversary. Starting this
upcoming weekend, limited edition purple IceRays t-shirts will be available for
$15 at the IceRays team store at the American Bank Center. Proceeds will go
towards benefiting the shelter.

Celebrating 40 years of making a positive difference to women throughout the
Coastal Bend, the Purple Door hopes the new name and logo will persuade more
victims of abuse to come forward seeking help. The shelter will also continue
being a safe haven for women, men, and children who are victims of abuse.

The Purple Door is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Corpus
Christi, Texas. It provides free services to victims and survivors of family
violence and sexual assault throughout a 12-county radius in South Texas. They
offer support and empowerment to individuals through a safe shelter,
non-residential services/programs, and outreach.

“We value our partnership with the IceRays and appreciate the support they’ve provided to our agency through the years,” Purple Door CEO and President Frances Wilson said. “It means so much to our staff and clients for the IceRays to create a t-shirt to commemorate the agency’s 40th anniversary and our new name, The Purple Door. It’s a great way to show survivors that the IceRays stand with the community in solidarity in the movement against domestic violence and sexual assault.”

Each shirt sold will help the Purple Door to continue its noble work throughout
Corpus Christi. They will be available at every IceRays home game at the team
merchandise store for $15 each while supplies last.

The IceRays host the Shreveport Mudbugs this weekend. Puck drop is set for 7:05
pm on Friday and Saturday. Friday is Teacher Appreciation Night; any teachers
who bring a voucher to the game will be allowed free admission. It is also a
Frosty Friday, so $3 pints and $3 small sodas will be sold throughout the
evening. Saturday is a family four-pack night: four hot dogs, four sodas and
four tickets will be available for $48. Both games will be broadcast on
HockeyTV.com and on YouTube.
