Former Interim Head Coach Completes Corpus Christi’s Coaching Staff
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — The Corpus Christi IceRays have announced that Ryan Gil will return to the organization as Assistant Coach for the upcoming season after serving as the team’s Head Coach at the conclusion of last season.
Gil stepped into the head coaching role late in the season and provided steady leadership behind the bench during a pivotal stretch for the organization. His familiarity with the team’s culture, players, and expectations made a significant impact as the IceRays navigated the final portion of the campaign.
“I’m grateful to be brought back for another season with the IceRays. I am thrilled to work with coach Nick Skerlick on the bench and out in the community, said Gil. We are blessed to have a strong ownership and surrounding staff that has made Corpus Christi the new hub for junior hockey. As we pick up from last season, we strive not only for playoff contention, but to bring the Robertson Cup to south Texas.”
Gil has been an integral member of the IceRays coaching staff and has earned the respect of players and colleagues through his work ethic, preparation, and ability to connect with athletes both on and off the ice. His experience guiding the team as head coach provides an additional layer of leadership and continuity as the IceRays prepare for the upcoming season.

Ryan did an outstanding job leading the team when called upon last season, and we’re thrilled to continue building with him in this role.”
As Assistant Coach, Gil will continue to play a key role in player development, practice planning, game preparation, and supporting the team’s pursuit of success both on and off the ice.
