IceRays Welcome Goalie Waylon Esche

Dec 19, 2024

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christis IceRays would like to welcome Goaltender Waylon Esche to the IceRays. Esche, born in Utica, New York, is coming from the Blackfalds Bulldogs in the BCHL. Prior to joining Blackfalds, Esche played two seasons with the Utica Jr. Comets in the NCDC where he posted a .909 save percentage and 2.83 GAA in 37 games his last season with the Jr. Comets.

“I’m excited to join the Corpus Christi IceRays and to contribute to the organization in the second half of the season. I’m eager to join my teammates as we work toward a common goal, and look forward to being a small part of the continued success of the IceRays,” said Esche.

The IceRays were in need of some goalie depth with the departure of Nikita Volsky who has opted to leave for Lake Superior State after Christmas to begin his collegiate career. Esche will become a part of a goaltending tandem with Vladislav Bryzgalov who has won his last three starts with Corpus Christi.

The IceRays are excited for Waylon to get started and look forward to watching him throughout the season.
