KRIS 6 News Anchor Taylor Alanis to Judge Corpus Christi Ice Girls Auditions

Jun 7, 2023

We are so excited to announce our next judge for our Corpus Christi #IceGirls auditions on June 10th!

About Taylor

Taylor Alanis is an anchor and multi-skilled journalist who has worked several positions including 4 p.m. weekday anchor, weekend anchor, investigative reporter, and weekday morning anchor during her nearly two years at KRIS 6 News.

She is an Associated Press Award finalist, a Lonestar Emmy nominated journalist, and most recently was named a finalist for a Texas Associated Broadcaster’s Award.

Taylor was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised as a daughter of first responders. Growing up with parents who were aware of what was going on in their community made her care about and appreciate it even more.

Her passion for telling stories stemmed from the love of her community, being a voice for the voiceless, and putting a spotlight on people making a difference. After a few years at the University of Texas at San Antonio, she graduated from Texas State University in 2014 with a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with a focus on electronic media and a minor in criminal justice.

Her first reporting job took her to Waco-Temple-Killeen, Texas where she worked for two years covering the aftermaths of two Fort Hood shootings, the Twin Peaks Biker Massacre, and an I-35 bridge collapse.

In 2017, Taylor moved to Corpus Christi, where she continued her career in journalism.

In 2021, she started working at KRIS 6 News where she was quickly promoted to anchor of a brand new, hour-long 4 p.m. newscast. She also stepped in as an interim investigative reporter for eight months.

Her most recent award nominations stemmed from her continuous coverage of lies and allegations of malpractice at the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office, an investigation that led to significant changes that will benefit the Coastal Bend community.

In 2022, she was the winner of the inaugural Real Men Wear Pink and the American Cancer Society’s Dancing with the Coastal Bend. A cause and event so near and dear to her heart.

Both her parents, her Momo and Aunt Cheryl are cancer survivors. Her dad is battling Multiple Myeloma for the second time.
In May 2023 she will be recognized by the League of United Latin American Citizens Council, LULAC # 1, during their Outstanding Community Leaders dinner.

Being a South Texan herself, Taylor grew up coming down to Corpus Christi going fishing with her dad, and the beach with her family. She even has pictures at the Texas State Aquarium, the jetty in front of the USS Lexington, and standing next to a very tall Selena statue to prove it.

For the last six years, the Coastal Bend has become her home. She will be forever grateful for the people she’s met and the stories she’s been fortunate to tell of a community that she truly believes is her familia.

When she’s not chasing down a story or behind the desk, Taylor enjoys going to the beach with her two rescue dogs Louie and Lola, being with her family and friends, dancing, and enjoying all of the amazing food, festivals, and events the area has to offer.

If you see her out and about, don’t be afraid to say “Hi!”. Make sure to give her a follow on Facebook and Twitter @TaylorAlanisTV and for story ideas you can message her or email her at taylor.alanis@kristv.com.
