Marks Earns Second NAHL South Player Of The Week Honor, Hintz Named Honorable Mention

Marks chosen after making 81 saves out of 83 shots in two games against Amarillo.

Corpus Christi, Texas – For the second time this season, Corpus Christi IceRays goaltender Bryant Marks was named North American Hockey League South Player of the Week.

Marks kept the IceRays in the game in a 2-1 loss to the Amarillo Wranglers Friday night at the American Bank Center and was sterling again in a 2-0 shutout win Saturday.

Marks stopped 46 of the 48 shots he faced in the loss to the Wranglers on a night the IceRays were outshot 48-25.

Marks another solid effort in goal for the IceRays as he stopped all 35 of the shots he faced in collecting his first shutout, and the IceRays first shutout of the season.

“He (Marks) was unbelievable this weekend,” IceRays Head Coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “I’m so happy for him with all the hard work he’s put in.”

Marks was also named NAHL South Player of the Week on January 1 for his efforts in two victories over the Odessa Jackalopes.

The native of Wasilla, Alaska, and University of Anchorage commit collected 81 saves out of 83 shots in the two games over the weekend to improve to 8-11-0, 1SOL on the season.

Marks has a 3.307 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

“Marksy has been really solid since Christmas,” Cloutier said. “He’s given us a chance to win every night. He puts in the work, and he got rewarded.”

Hintz selected to NAHL South Honorable Mention list:

Hintz named honorable mention.

IceRays defenseman Ryan Hintz was selected to the NAHL South Honorable Mention list.

It’s the second time this season that Hintz has made the honorable mention list. He was on the list on October 9.

Hintz was a significant force on the defensive end against a powerful Amarillo attack.

The IceRays are in their bye week before returning home for a three-game series against the Shreveport Mudbugs Thursday night, February 8, Friday night, February 9 and Saturday night, February 10 at 7:05 p.m. CST at American Bank Center.
