MATT LAPRADE PICKS (D1) UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

May 29, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi IceRays goaltender Matt LaPrade will follow the footsteps of his father by attending the University of Minnesota in the 2012-2013 season.

Dr. Robert LaPrade, Matt’s father, was the team physician and orthopedist for the Gophers hockey team when they captured a National Championship.

The 6-4, 195-pound goalie, first played high school hockey for Holy Family Catholic before moving to the Colorado Rampage of the Tier-I Elite League during the 2010-11 season.

To start the 2011-2012 season, LaPrade was with the Bay State Breakers of the Eastern Junior Hockey League and then was traded to the IceRays.

The Golden Gophers play in the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and have captured five National Championships (1974, 1976, 1979, 2002, 2003).

Many current NHL players once took the ice as a Golden Gopher including Phil Kessel (Toronto), Kyle Okposo (NY. Islanders), Erik Johnson (Colorado), and Keith Ballard (Vancouver).

Season tickets for the 15th year anniversary season of the IceRays are now on sale.  Call the front office at 361-814-7825 for details or check out the pricing and seating chart online at www.goicerays.com.
