MISURACA’S OT WINNER SWEEPS WILDCATS AWAY 4-3

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – Corpus Christi scored three consecutive goals and Frank Misuraca notched the overtime winner as the IceRays swept the Wichita Falls Wildcats with a 4-3 victory inside the American Bank Center on Friday night.

Brandon Smith started the scoring for Corpus Christi as Beau Walker fed him with a pass in the high slot.  Smith beat goaltender JoJo Jeanetta top shelf for a 1-0 lead.

Eric Purcell scored his second goal in two games on a three-on-one odd man rush.  Purcell hit Chris Taff with a pass, who then returned the favor to Purcell for his 15th goal of the year taking a 2-0 lead with 3:57 left in the first period.

The IceRays led 2-0 after 40 minutes of play, and added to their lead in the second period as AJ Jarosz took a shot that banked off a skate, deflecting into the net for a 3-0 lead with his 10th of the year 7:38 into the period.

Corpus Christi held a comfortable three goal advantage until the Wildcats scored two goals in the first 1:30 of the third period pulling within a goal.

They tied the game with 8:25 left to go in the game as Zach Pochiro beat Anthony Stolarz forcing overtime.

Both teams picked up a point as they went to overtime.  Corpus Christi won the game as Frank Misuraca took a shot through the screen 2:34 into the extra period securing the extra point for the IceRays with a 4-3 win.

The IceRays are on the road tomorrow night as the IceRays are hosted by the Odessa Jackalopes.  Puck drops at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
