NAHL ANNOUNCES 2015 ROBERTSON CUP PLAYOFF FORMAT

Jan 5, 2015

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The North American Hockey League (NAHL) announced today the format for the 2015 Robertson Cup Playoffs. The Robertson Cup is the oldest junior hockey trophy in the United States and is awarded to the national playoff champion of the NAHL.

The top-four teams in the Central, North, and Midwest Divisions at the end of the regular season will be granted entry into the 2015 Robertson Cup Playoffs. The South Division will award playoff spots for the top-six teams at the end of the regular season with the highest two seeds awarded automatic bye-rounds into the South Division Semi-Finals. Seeds three through six will play a best-of-three series starting on or after Thursday April 2, 2015 to determine the qualifiers for the South Division Semi-Finals.

Following this round, all four divisions will play in their respective Division Semi-Final in a best-of-five series, pairing the highest seeds against the lowest seeds to determine who competes in the Division Finals. From this best-of-five series, one representative from each division will meet in the Robertson Cup Semi-Finals for a best-of-three series. Seeding will be determined by each team’s record at the end of the regular season. The winners of this series will play a best-of-three series in the Robertson Cup Finals to determine the winner of the Robertson Cup National Championship.
