IceRays Host Oklahoma For A Pair Friday And Saturday

Corpus Christi, Texas – The Corpus Christi IceRays, fresh off getting three road points in Amarillo last weekend, will host the Oklahoma Warriors Friday and Saturday night at the American Bank Center at 7:05 CT.

The IceRays split with the Amarillo Wranglers, falling 5-4 in a shootout September 29 and rebounding with an 8-5 victory over the Wranglers September 30.

“It’s a big weekend at home and we need to get some points,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said.

IceRays forward and team captain Anthony Cafarelli and defenseman Luca Fasciano earned NAHL weekly honors for their play during the two games.

Cafarelli and Fasciano were named honorable mention for their performances on the road against the Amarillo Wranglers.

Cafarelli netted a goal and added an assist in the 5-4 shootout loss, and tallied an assist in Saturday’s win.

Fasciano scored a goal and added two assists in Saturday’s win.

In eight games, Cafarelli has tallied four goals and four assists for eight points.

Fasciano has a goal and five assists for six points in eight games.

Forward Mathieu Bourgault leads the team with 10 points (two goals and eight assists).

Pierson Sobush has eight points on four goals and four assists, while Nils Forselius leads the team with five goals to go along with an assist for six points to tie Fasciano.

The IceRays are 3-4 on the season with a shootout loss for seven points and are just four points out of first place.

Corpus Christi leads the South Division with 31 goals scored but is second in the division with 32 goals allowed. South Division-leading Colorado has given up 35 goals.

The Warriors are 5-3 for 10 points after splitting the weekend series with the New Mexico Ice Wolves (a 5-4 victory Friday and a 3-2 loss Saturday).

Kaden Nelson leads Oklahoma with nine points (six goals and three assists.

Max Dronen has eight points on the season with two goals and six assists.

“We’re playing the defending champions, so it will be a big test for us,” Cloutier said.
