‘RAYS REINFORCE BLUELINE; ADD COREY SIKICH FROM WENATCHEE

Nov 6, 2013

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays have added more depth to the blueline heading into Stars & Stripes Night tomorrow as they host the Amarillo Bulls at 7:05PM.  Former Fresno Monster & Wenatchee Wild defenseman Corey Sikich will join the IceRays heading into the weekend.

In the 2012-2013 season, Sikich split time with Fresno in both the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and the Western States Hockey League (WSHL).  In 39 games played with Fresno in the WSHL, the California native scored nine goals and added 27 assists, along with scoring four playoff points in seven games.

“I am excited to be a part of the IceRays organization,” said Sikich.  “New opportunities with a new team and new staff. I am looking forward to helping the team achieve their goals this season.

When the Monsters made the move inside Town Toyota Center to become the Wild beginning the 2013-2014 campaign, Sikich followed and appeared in ten games tallying two assists from the blueline.

“Corpus Christi is a very hard working team that battles everyday both on and off the ice to better themselves,” Sikich added.  “As a player, that's the kind of team you want to be a part of.  Team’s that will go to battle for the player next to them.”

Prior to joining the Monsters, the 20yr old was with the Valencia Flyers in the WSHL and the Quad City Jr. Flames in the NA3HL recording 17 points in 48 games.  “Corey will bring some speed and mobility to the blueline for the IceRays,” said head coach John Becanic.

The IceRays are home this Friday at 7:05PM and Sunday at 3:05PM against Amarillo.  Puck drops on Friday at 7:05PM, coverage begins at 6:50PM with the IceRays Pregame Show on sportsjuice.com, the TuneIn Radio APP, ustream.com, and fasthockey.com.
