The Corpus Christi IceRays kicked off the 2011-2012 home opener in thrilling fashion as they defeated the Odessa Jackalopes in OT 2-1 on a penalty shot.  With the win, the IceRays moved into second in the South Division with 6pts.  They head into Odessa for two games Friday and Saturday night!  Read all about it here.

GAME #1 – 9-23-11: Corpus Christi 2-1 Odessa: – Eric Purcell netted the game winning goal 2:42 into overtime on a penalty shot to give the Rays a 2-1 win inside the American Bank Center.  Seth Blair tied the game 17:53 into the second period on a rebound in front of the net.  The assist was credited to Cody Milligan.  Kale Robertson recorded 22 saves for his second win of the year.  Corpus Christi fired 42 shots on net in the victory.

UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Although there are no home games this weekend, October 7th and 8th are the next home games as the IceRays take on Amarillo.  On Friday October 7th, fans will enjoy Frosty Friday! RIVALRY RENEWED?…The IceRays may have juiced up the old Odessa/Corpus Christi rivalry this past Friday night.  In a matter of minutes, both teams racked up a combined 72 penalty minutes during a line brawl. 

PENALTY KILLING MACHINE… The IceRays continue to dominate on the penalty kill throughout the season so far.  Through five games, the IceRays have killed off all but one penalty including every power play they faced Friday night against Odessa.

PACKED HOUSE:  On Friday in the home opener the IceRays played in front of 5,145 fans inside the American Bank Center.
