RAYS’ REPORT #4: ICERAYS LOOK TO REBOUND AT HOME

Oct 8, 2012

The Corpus Christi IceRays will look to rebound this weekend as they play host to the Wichita Falls Wildcats on Friday and Saturday night.  Last weekend, against the Tornado, Corpus Christi let in numerous bad angle goals which proved to haunt them in the end, falling in both games to Texas over the weekend.

GAME #9 – 10-4-12: Corpus Christi 2-4 Texas – Jordan Paine started the scoring with a diving poke from behind the net that somehow found a way over the goal-line for a 1-0 lead just 1:14 into the contest.  After that, it was the Brandon Hawkins show as he put in three straight goals to give the Tornado a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes of action.  Corpus started a small comeback in the third period when Phil Pietroniro intercepted a pass and buried it top shelf just 4:35 into the period to shrink the deficit to three goals.  However, there were no IceRays goals until late in the game on the power-play courtesy of Tommaso Bucci to pull the IceRays within a pair of goals.  The final was 4-2.

GAME #10 – 10-5-12: Corpus Christi 1-3 Texas – On Friday night, CJ Reuschlein gave the Tornado the lead just 5:36 into the game.  Perry D’Arrisso tied the contest less than three minutes later on a rebound goal that came off a Grant Hutton shot from the point.  Then, with 53 seconds left in the first, Brandon Hawkins with a goal from an almost impossible angle gave Texas the lead after one period.  In the second, the lone goal was notched by Corpus Christi.  Roman Uchyn with another rebound goal for the IceRays tied the game once again, this time, going into the third.  In the final period, Hawkins struck again with yet another bad angle tally that held on for the game winner with 14 minutes left in the game.
