Oct 28, 2012

The Corpus Christi IceRays went into a hostile Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska and took three of four points from the defending West Division Champions with a shootout loss on Friday night, and a 3-1 victory on Saturday.  AJ Jarosz continues his goal scoring streak that is at three games.

GAME #15 – 10-26-12: Corpus Christi 4-5 (SO) Fairbanks – On Friday night, the IceDogs took the lead 1:42 into the game.  Duggie Lagrone picked up the power-play goal to give Fairbanks the 1-0 lead.  Corpus Christi came back to tie the contest in the second period when Brandon Smith notched a breakaway goal 3:53 into the period.  AJ Jarosz scored his second goal in as many games 12min into the second.  The IceDogs came back with 33 second left in the period when Jayson Angus picked up a power-play goal evening the score at two after two periods.  In the third, Devin Loe scored 27 seconds in, to put the home team up a goal.  The IceRays continues to comeback when Tommaso Bucci scored on a great feed from Ian McGilvrey tying the game once again, this time at three.  Fairbanks once again bounced out to the lead with 6:10 left in the game on a Chandler Madry strike.  The IceRays scored the tying goal that eventually forced overtime when Brandon Berkley fired a shot off a pass from Bucci with just 3:39 left in the game.  In a shootout though, the IceDogs picked up the extra point, and the 5-4 win.

GAME #16 – 10-27-12: Corpus Christi 3-1 Fairbanks – On Saturday it was the IceRays who drew first blood against the IceDogs, and it happened in the second period.  AJ Jarosz took a pass off of a great move by Mike Economos and beat goaltender Steve Perry at the 9:46 mark.  Corpus Christi added to the lead 1:09 into the third as Eric Purcell put a move on, got around the defender, and scored on a breakaway for the 2-0 lead.  The IceRays moved out to a three goal lead on a two-on-one rush.  Perry D’Arrisso hit Emil Romig with a pass that Romig one-timed past Steve Perry, making it 3-0 in the third.  Fairbanks would get on the board late in the game, however, the IceRays held on for the 3-1 win.
