IceRays hit the road to take on the Amarillo Wranglers Friday and Saturday

Corpus Christi, Texas – With the momentum of a victory at home, the Corpus Christi IceRays look to capitalize as they embark on a weekend road trip in Amarillo, Texas to take on the Amarillo Wranglers Friday and Saturday night at 7:15 CT.

The IceRays are feeling good about themselves after a tight 4-3 victory Saturday at the American Bank Center.

Now the challenge is to keep the good vibes going in enemy territory.

Corpus Christi is 2-4 and in 9th place in the NAHL South Division.

“It was really nice to get the win Saturday in front of our fans,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said. “What stood out to me was that the boys never quit. They played hard all weekend and that was nice to see.”

Amarillo (3-1) has six points and two spots ahead of the IceRays.

Stepan Kuznetsov, who earned NAHL honorable mention weekly honors this week, and Anthony Cafarelli lead the IceRays with three goals.

Mathieu Bourgault, The NAHL Southern 2nd Star of the Week this week, paces the team in points with six on a pair of goals and four assists.

Jack Ivey leads the Wranglers with four goals, followed by Topi Puikkonen with three.

Puikkonen also has five assists and is tops on the team with eight points.

“Obviously, it’s a big weekend,” Cloutier said. “We need to get some points on the road and we know it won’t be easy. Amarillo’s got a great team so it will be a great test for us.”
