STOLARZ, ICERAYS SHUTOUT MUSTANGS 4-0

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Corpus Christi IceRays scored four first period goals and Anthony Stolarz stopped 32 shots as the IceRays defeated the New Mexico Mustangs 4-0 for their first shutout of the year.

The IceRays took the lead early in period number one courtesy of newcomer Zachary Lindsay who received the puck in the low slot and shot it top shelf past Randy Graham for a 1-0 lead 1:24 into the game.

Another IceRay received their first goal as Ladislav Hruska fired a shot through a screen into the net 3:44 into the first period for a 2-0 lead.

Corpus Christi did not let up on their lead as Eric Purcell got a goal of his own on a rebound in front of the net he beat Randy Graham 10:20 into regulations for a 3-0 lead. 

Eric Purcell then went around two defenders passing the puck to teammate Joe Ginley for an easy tap in goal to give Corpus Christi a 4-0 lead after the first period of play.

There would be no scoring in the second or third periods.  Ladislav Hruska was ejected in the third period after dropping the gloves with Dallas Crum.

Anthony Stolarz picked up his first shutout of the year stopping all 32 shots he faced.

The IceRays are in action tomorrow night against New Mexico once again.  Puck drops at 8:30PM CST, coverage begins at 7:15PM CST with the IceRays Pregame Show on ESPN Radio 1440AM.
