CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS – The North American Hockey League featured three Corpus Christi IceRays players in their weekly NAHL Plays of the Week released yesterday on YouTube. Forwards Nathan Bryer and Tyler Johnson, and netminder Andrew Lindgren were three of the ten featured players from all 24 NAHL teams, and all three clips came from Saturday's 2-1 victory against the Lone Star Brahmas at the American Bank Center.
Bryer scored his third goal of the season and first on the power play at 4:17 of the second period to give the IceRays a 2-0 lead and what would become the eventual game-winning goal. Bryer's chance was set up from strong passing by defenseman Trevor Heuser and forward Ryan Cusin to give Bryer open space and score the five-hole goal.
Johnson recorded his first IceRays point at 12:24 of the first period and handed his team a 1-0 lead. After a Brahmas defender tripped at the center line, a two-on-one rush led by forward Joe Chitwood ensued. Chitwood found Johnson to his left, and the young forward snipped a wrist shot passed the near side shoulder of awaiting netminder TJ Black into the top corner of the net.
Lindgren earned his third win of the season, stopping 31 of 32 shots in Saturday's win, including a tough glove save in the first period to keep the Brahmas at bay. In his first five games, Lindgren has factored in all eight points the IceRays have earned this season.
