WALKER COMMITS TO (D1) SACRED HEART UNIVERSITY

Apr 1, 2012

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – IceRays forward Beau Walker will continue his ice hockey career after this season by committing to play hockey next year at (D1) Sacred Heart University.

The 20 year old is in his second season with the Corpus Christi IceRays scoring 12 goals and 33 assists in 58 games played.  Last year with Corpus Christi, Walker notched 21 goals and 41 assists in 56 games.

“I have a friend who plays there and he has had nothing but good things to say about the program,” said Walker.  “It’s a very large school with 31 Division 1 programs.  I am just really excited to continue my opportunity to play ice hockey and be a student.”

Sacred Heart is in the Atlantic Hockey Conference and goes up against the likes of RIT, Air Force, Niagara, and Holy Cross.

“Beau is extremely deserving of this opportunity as he exemplifies the product of this league making strides every year in developing towards playing collegiate hockey,” said IceRays head coach Justin Quenneville.  “He was extremely patient throughout the entire season as he had several opportunities to choose from. Sacred Heart is a great program with an experienced staff that Beau can learn a lot from. Beau's skill set will give him the opportunity to play in his first season and be an immediate impact. We are proud of Beau and wish him the best of luck.”

Walker was selected to represent the South Division by the NAHL in the 2012 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Troy, Michigan.
