HIDALGO, TX – Wes Michaud scored the game tying goal while Brad LeLievre wristed home the game winner early in the third period as the Corpus Christi IceRays ended the losing streak with a 2-1 comeback win over the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Saturday night in front of an electric crowd at State Farm Arena.

The first goal of the game came from the top of the left wing circle as Luke Bafia picked up his first goal of the season.  The puck came through a scrum to the top of the left circle and Bafia stepped up firing a wrist shot that beat goaltender Ben Myers over his left shoulder for a 1-0 Rio Grande Valley lead at the 9:14 mark of the opening period.

In the second period of play the IceRays needed a spark and Wes Michaud provided it with a gorgeous goal while on the power-play.  Michaud moved through the neutral zone on the man advantage walking right through the entire Rio Grande Valley penalty kill deking goaltender Olli Kalkaja to even the scoring up at a goal a piece with just 2:14 remaining in the second period of action.  It was Michaud’s 12th of the season, which tied Jake Durflinger for team lead.

Brad LeLievre has a thing for scoring big goals since joining the IceRays and he did it again picking up the game winner early on in the third period with another great goal for the ‘Rays in this game.  Moving down the left wing side of the ice, LeLievre fired a shot top shelf over the left shoulder of Killer Bees netminder Olli Kalkaja which ended his night and Nick Schmit replaced him.  The goal came with 15:13 left in the game.

Ben Myers turned aside all but one shot in the comeback win for Corpus Christi.
