CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Evan Carroll scored in round six of Friday’s shootout as the Corpus Christi IceRays snapping a season-losing losing streak, defeating the New Mexico Ice Wolves 2-1 at American Bank Center. Ryan Coughlin and Evan Burkle also scored in the shootout while goaltender Jeremy Forman denied four of six attempts from the Ice Wolves.

The IceRays trailed 1-0 before Logan Ommen recorded his first goal with the team at 10:33 of the third period to tie the game and force overtime.

The IceRays were outshot by a 15-4 margin in the first period, but Forman kept the game scoreless headed into the second period.

New Mexico’s Philip Ekberg scored from the slot at 4:31 of the second period.

Ommen tied the game off a feed from Burkle behind the net, as Burkle and Brendan Dicker each picked up their first career NAHL assists.

Coughlin snuck a five-hole goal in during round one of the shootout, while Burkle kept the IceRays alive with a goal in round four. In round six, New Mexico’s Alex Dominique was unable to beat Forman, and Carroll sealed the game with a five-hole shot on the forehand past Ice Wolves goaltender Henrik Laursen.

The win was the IceRays’ first since Dec. 6, snapping a 15-game skid (0-14-1-0) and earning recently-hired Interim Head Coach Nate Weossner his first NAHL coaching victory.
